Education is the Lifeline for Youth in Foster Care

The National Work Group on Foster Care and Education (facilitated by the Legal Center for Foster Care and Education) provides numerous resources for youth and alumni of foster care, particularly focused on educational access and achievement.

In the Educational Outcomes Fact Sheet, national data is reported to contextualize the barriers for youth and alumni of foster care in education.  The report address eduation as "the lifeline for youth in foster care."  In this report, you will find:

  • Research on the importance of quickly and consistently enrolling youth in foster care in school when placement changes
