When you're working with youth and alumni of foster care, it's important to understand the system they come from and their background.  It's not always easy for youth to share this information - resources are available to help you learn more about what it means to be in foster care and ways to support these students and young adults.

Did You Know?

An adult working in the youthʼs field of interest can offer advice which could launch a youthʼs career. Youth particularly benefit from connections and introductions which lead to apprenticeships, job shadows, or other real-world experience.

Providing Employment Opportunities

An employer or person in a position to hire, can help by providing special consideration when hiring for a new position. A phone call to the youth inviting them to apply, help with a written application, coaching for a job interview are all ways to help.
