FSM Podcast Series: Student Strength Stories—Relationships Domain-Liz

Each month, FSM features a student with strengths, skills, and resilience in each of the domains via podcast to celebrate student accomplishments and achievements and share resources with the FSM Network! Join us as we talk to graduate student Liz B. about her strengths in the Supportive Relationships and Community Connections Domain!

What you are studying? What is your anticipated degree?

I am studying Behavioral Science, which falls under the umbrella of Psychology. I hope to work with young children who have been diagnosed with Autism to help teach them skills that will make them more successful in their everyday lives.

Tell us about your strength in this domain related to your college experience...

Being in the Seita Scholarship Program has given me access to supportive people such as my campus coach and career mentor. I have also developed community connections and relationships through the Lady Butterflies, which is an identity group that falls under Seita. Another huge support system for me has been my Fraternity, Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity. We have roughly 95 Brothers so we are all parts of other organizations on campus and in the community and we do our best to get our Brothers involved with them as well.

What do you think are the biggest obstacles in this domain?

The biggest challenge is trusting people and relationships when I have been let down and abandoned by people I trusted in the past.

What do you hope to do after graduation?

I would love you come back to Western for Graduate School. I hope to get my Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis.
