Wayne County Community College District - Scholars Motivated to Advocate & Realize their Talents

The SMART Program exists to empower students who have experienced foster care by providing person-centered supportive services that aim to increase college access, improve graduation rates and promote overall well-being through their journey of becoming an independent adult and academic scholar. SMART is a district-wide initiative of WCCCD that provides 24hr support from a Campus Coach, and support from Campus Champions that personally help students obtain vital resources and navigate through the academic process. With access to scholarships up to $6000 per year, peer and professional mentors, crisis counseling, career planning, life skills and academic support courses, financial literacy workshops, support with basic living expenses, and emergencies, the student is empowered to advocate, realize and utilize their talents to achieve phenomenal success.
