Born on July 13, 1947, in Laredo, Dr. Humberto Gonzalez is a native Texan. At the age of 17, he joined the Rondels and went on to pursue a career in music education, working as a band director and music instructor in Laredo, Alice, and Hebbronville, Texas. Prior to joining the faculty at Texas A&M International University and eventually becoming the Dean of the College of Education, he held positions as a school administrator and principal at United High School, Hebbronville High School, and Mirando City ISD. His total education experience spanned forty-three years. The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents appointed him Professor Emeritus after he retired.
