At Western Michigan University, the Center for Fostering Success adapted the Casey framework so that education is the central focus of support offered to students, with stability in other life domains integrally tied to the understanding of what alumni of foster care need to thrive and succeed in college (Unrau, 2012). This webinar will focus on the community connections and supportive relationships domain, and will include related resources.
Join us for the FSM Life Domains Webinar Series! Each month will feature a webinar that will provide an overview of one of the seven life domains identified by Casey Family Programs (2006) as a way to organize and address the needs of students with experience in foster care. This month we welcome Shenandoah Chefalo, author of Garbage Bag Suitcase: A Memoir, to share her expertise, experiences, and resources related to the Community Connections and Supportive Relationships Life Domain!
Fostering Success Michigan is a program of Educate Tomorrow that aims to increase access and success in higher education and post-college careers for youth with experience in foster care. Learn how you can contribute to building a holistic network that insulates (i.e., strengthens protective factors and reduces risks) the education to career "pipeline."
