In 2006, Casey Family Programs identified seven life domains as a way to organize and address the needs of students with experience in foster care. At Western Michigan University, the Center for Fostering Success adapted the Casey framework so that education is the central focus of support offered to students, with stablity in other life domains integrally tied to the understanding of what alumni of foster care need to thrive and succeed in college (Unrau, 2012).
