Eastern Michigan University - MAGIC Program
Mentorship Access Guidance In College exists to increase the graduation rates among foster care…
Many institutions maintain a systematic assumption that students have family support as they pursue a college degree. Students who have experienced foster care or similar situations are navigating complex systems to access and achieve success in higher education without this expected support. During this session, participants will learn to implement a mentoring program that matches faculty and staff with students to provide support during college to mitigate the effects of family privilege and exposure gaps. Our presenters for this webinar will include:
Jamie Bennett, LMSW, ACC, Academic Success Coordinator, University of South Florida St. Petersburg
Kizzy Lopez, Ed.D., Coordinator, Renaissance Scholars Program, Fresno State
Angela Hoffman, M.Ed., Assistant Director Orientation Programs, Michigan Technological University
Blaire Tinker, M.Ed., Program Manager for Student Support and Development, Center for Engineering Diversity and Outreach
University of Michigan College of Engineering
