Calling all current and former foster youth ages 18 to 30!!! The application for Michigan’s FIRST Foster Youth Shadow Day is here!
The Foster Youth Shadow Day is an opportunity for young people with lived experience in the foster care system to spend time with their State Representative or Senator at the Michigan Capitol in June of 2019. Participants will get a behind-the-scenes look at the legislative process, while policymakers hear personal testimony and experiences of youth regarding the child welfare system. These young leaders will provide policy recommendations to their Legislatoer and other child welfare decision makers. Before the actual Shadow Day, all participants will go through a day of training to ensure they are well prepared.
