Faith in Motion (California)

Faith in Motion is a program implemented by the County Welfare Directors Association (CWDA) of California that forms a unique collaboration between county child welfare services and faith communities. Currently, the Faith in Motion program exists in the counties of Orange, Riverside, and Ventura.

Faith in Motion’s two main goals are to:

Recruit high quality foster and adoptive families within the faith community; and

Encourage faith-based congregations to develop support services for foster, kinship care and adoptive families

They believe that faith communities have the opportunity to make a big impact on the foster care system because of the size of their networks, the existing structure and their spiritual motivation. Partnering together, the county and the faith community can be very effective in finding mission- driven homes to offer unconditional support for vulnerable children.
