Words Matter: Student Voices from the FSM Network

Person-first language is a core value of Fostering Success Michigan.  

Person-first language removes labels and allows people to be defined as individuals and not by their experiences. 

Instead of saying "foster kid", please say "young adult who has experienced foster care". Foster care is an experience, not a definition.
