The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015 revamped the education system and replaced the No Child Left Behind Act. In addition, it’s the first federal education legislation to address the special needs of youth who have experienced foster care. This toolkit and accompanying webinar will highlight those provisions and will explain how Michigan has moved toward better serving our youth in foster care so that they are better prepared for post-secondary opportunities. Fostering Success Michigan is a program of Educate Tomorrow that aims to increase access and success in higher education and post-college careers for youth with experience in foster care. Learn how you can contribute to building a holistic network that insulates (i.e., strengthens protective factors and reduces risks) the education to career "pipeline."
