Enterprising Youth Program (EYP)

The purpose of the Enterprising Youth Program (EYP) is to increase economic opportunities for youth with a foster care background through business development, self-employment, job training and developing social capital.

The EYP program will serve youth who have been in foster care, ages 14-25 from Southeast Michigan (including Wayne, Oakland, Macomb & Washtenaw counties).

Through the Enterprising Youth Program, young people will learn organizational skills, time management, leadership development and interpersonal skills through a variety of EYP activities:

  • Build participants’ social capital by matching participants with a business mentor.
  • Educational supports as it pertains to career development, employment and fields of academic interest through access to an education coach.
  • Trainings throughout the year on microenterprise, employability, financial management, soft skills and education resources.
  • One-day Business Development workshop for youth on micro-enterprise and self employment.
  • Opportunity to participate in a competition centered around micro-enterprise business plans. Winning presentation(s) will receive funds towards their business venture.
  • Opportunity for internships.
