Buying a Computer

Buying a laptop for the first time can be a pretty scary process—especially if you don't know where to start.

There isn't a one-size-fits-all answer, and your budget isn't the only factor to consider (even if its a pretty tight budget).

Instead of jumping right into laptops, you need to first ask yourself what kind of user you are (or think you'll be). How often will you take the laptop with you? How will you be transporting it? How long will you need to use it unplugged? What kinds of apps will you be running? Do you plan to dock it at your desk and/or connect it to a second monitor? Find out by clicking on the link below 'How to buy a laptop.'

Additionally, Foster Youth in Transition Funds (FYIT) can be used to purchase a computer. To find out if you qualify, Click on the FYIT link below, or contact Jessica Kincaid at 517-373-9219 or via email at kincaidj@michigan.gov.
