Alternatives for Girls

Through providing prevention, shelter, and outreach, the Alternatives for Girls program: 

  • Serves girls (ages 4-20) who are at risk of teen pregnancy, gang involvement and school truancy
  • Builds self-esteem
  • Strengthens families
  • Provides competent, caring mentors
  • Develops decision-making and leadership skills
  • Nurtures a commitment to education

Their mission is to help homeless and high-risk girls and young women avoid violence, teen pregnancy and exploitation, and help them to explore and access the support, resources and opportunities necessary to be safe, to grow strong and to make positive choices in their lives.
